About the Author, Fredric M. Hitt

 

The author lives on the River of the Sun. In modern times it is called the St. Johns River. and flows northward through Central Florida until it reaches the Atlantic Ocean near Jacksonville.

Fred shares his love of the river with earlier inhabitants who disappeared from the face of the earth three hundred years before he was born. From his dock he can see the river the Seminole Indians called “Wekiva,” meaning “waters of the spring,” flows into the River of the Sun.

 

Fredric M. Hitt has been published with his stories of the rivers, their history and ecology in such magazines as Going Places, the AAA Magazine, Finest Fishing and other regional and national periodicals.

He graduated with a degree in Journalism from the University of Florida, and later obtained a law degree from the University of Miami. After more than thirty years as a lawyer and trial judge he has returned to his first love, writing.

Fred lives with his wife, award-winning wildlife artist Linda Silsby Hitt who painted the covers and illustrated Wekiva Winter and Beyond The River of the Sun.
